About Us

John Nagel and Greg Lopus (“The Boys”), started Cosmic Candy Company back in 2006.  We are a small, family owned business located in the beautiful Village of Pentwater on the shores of Lake Michigan. We have been fortunate to have become one of Michigan’s favorite “Pop and Pop” sweet treat destinations. 

Our pride and joy is Pentwater Popcorn.  We started with an old fashioned Caramel Corn recipe, made it our own and we haven’t stopped there.   John has been the creative genius behind our endless list of popcorn flavors.   His obsession is to discover that “new-now-next” ingredient sure to excite your taste buds.  Like a mad scientist, John enjoys spending time in the test kitchen where he can't stop “popping up” with new recipes.  One of his innovative creations has become legendary, our famous Chi Town Cheddar! We double dip two classics, our savory yellow cheddar covered in our molten buttery caramel.   And then there is our mind bending Fizzy Cosmic popcorn… yes, it actually fizzes.

Greg (Candyman) is our candy connoisseur. He brings the “Sweet" to our sweet treat destination.   His job is to track down the hard-to-find treats of yesteryear and to “seek out and explore” the new and exciting candies of today.   Greg takes you on a candy coated trip down memory lane by filling our store with nostalgic candies guaranteed to take you back.  Need to fulfill your sweet tooth craving?  He’s got your back.  It's not uncommon to have adults picking out more sweet treats than youngsters. Sweet treat lovers of all ages keep coming back because we have something for everyone.
